What's On Your Mind? - By: Johnson Star

We should learn to understand that stress is a necessary part of our lives. Whether we accept that fact or not, stress helps us in our lives. Without it, or without problems, our mental maturity is hindered. Man creates his own problems, and it's his obligation to face and solve them. Stress can push us to be capable of doing things that we are not capable of when we are in a relaxed state. The fight-or-flight response gives us more energy, stamina, and concentration to handle various situations that we perceive as threats.

But of course it is not only with each successful problem solving that we grow, the way we cope when we fail and how we see each failure can also help us to grow. That is of course depending on the way that each of us sees it. The way that we perceive, and approach each problem is dependent on how we think. So in a sense, the way that we think creates a greater impact when it comes to stress relief. Because no matter how effective your stress relief techniques might be, if your thoughts won't let go of the problem even for just a moment, it will become useless.

This is the main reason that a lot of people complain about their stress management practices. They think that whatever they try doesn't work, or is a scam. Some say that what they try made them feel even worse. There are two thought patterns during stress and the management of it: negative and positive. If you would like to determine where you belong, consciously monitor your thoughts.

If you want to find out which group you belong in, consciously monitor your thoughts, do you tend to stick to the "what ifs" or the "worst case scenario" or are you the type of person that can still see the lighter side no matter how bleak things may get? If you belong to the second group then good for you, as achieving relief would is easy for you, but if you are in the first group category then you will need to do something about it, and as soon as possible at that.

Changing you perception to things will take a little bit of time. You would also need to let go of your pride since you will have to admit that you may be looking at things in the wrong way. This will not happen overnight, but be patient. The sooner you recognize what you're doing wrong, the sooner things can get better.
